APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University's Jameson Raymond has been named the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association Freshman of the Week.
The defenseman from Flint, Mich., earned the honor after scoring both game-winning goals in Lawrence's weekend sweep at the University of Minnesota-Crookston.
Raymond, a former star for the Traverse City North Stars, scored the first goal in Lawrence's 2-0 shutout last Friday. He then scored a power-play goal midway through the third period, and that proved to be the game-winner in last Saturday's 5-4 victory.
Raymond was plus-3 on the weekend and also helped limit Crookston to 2-for-8 on the power play for the series. Raymond leads all Lawrence defensemen with four goals, nine assists, and 13 points.
Lawrence (11-9-1 overall) moved into sole possession of second place in the MCHA with the weekend sweep. The Vikings are 11-4-1 in the league and have 23 points. Lawrence returns to action this weekend when it hosts Northland College in a two-game series.
