APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University track and field standout Marva Goodson has been named the Midwest Conference Field Performer of the Week.
Goodson, a sophomore from Saginaw, Mich., won the long jump and took second in the 55 meters at the UW-Whitewater Invitational this past Saturday.
A former standout at Bridgeport High School, Goodson took the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 6 inches. That is the top performance in the long jump in the Midwest Conference this season.
Goodson ran to second place in the 55 meters in 7.51 seconds, and that is the second-fastest time in the league this season.
The Vikings return to action on Saturday at the Carthage College Invitational.
