APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University's men's basketball standout Ryan Kroeger has been named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week.
Kroeger, a senior guard from Glendale, Wis., played a key role in Lawrence's two conference games this past weekend. The former star at Nicolet High School averaged 29.0 points while shooting an outstanding 81.5 percent (22-27) from the floor.
Kroeger scored 28 points in Lawrence's 101-100 loss to Grinnell College last Friday. Kroeger was a perfect 11-for-11 from the field. He was one basket shy of tying the school record of 12-for-12 shooting from the floor in a game. Kroeger also pulled down five rebounds and handed out six assists in the contest.
Kroeger helped Lawrence bounce back from its loss to Grinnell with a game-high 30 points in a 95-70 victory against Monmouth College last Saturday. Kroeger was 11 of 16 from the floor, including 4 of 7 from beyond the arc. He also grabbed a rebound, had two assists, and a steal.
On the season, Kroeger is averaging a team-high 19.5 points per game and is shooting 55.7 percent from the field, including 42.1 percent from 3-point range.
The Vikings return to action on Wednesday when they host Ripon College in a Midwest Conference matchup at Alexander Gymnasium.
