APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University standout Julia Ziege has been named the Midwest Conference Swimmer of the Week.
Ziege, a freshman from Madison, Wis., won two events and swam on a pair of winning relays, as Lawrence beat UW-River Falls 168-125 in a dual meet this past Saturday.
A former star at Madison LaFollette High School, Ziege won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:06.23 and took the top spot in the 200 backstroke in 2:20.39. She also swam legs on the winning 400 medley relay team, which won in 4:25.09, and the victorious 400 freestyle relay team, which won in 3:55.85.
Ziege holds the top times in the 200 backstroke and 200 freestyle this season in the Midwest Conference.
The Vikings return to action on Saturday when they host the Midwest Conference North Division Relays at Boldt Natatorium.
