APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University baseball standout Kevin Kangas has been named the Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Kangas, a senior from Chassell, Mich., was 2-0 on the week, as he picked up a win against UW-Stout and handed St. Norbert College its first conference loss of the season.
Kangas threw 14 innings, on the week, striking out 12 and walking five with a 3.86 earned run average.
In a 6-4 win over Stout, he went five innings, allowed two runs, struck out seven and walked four. He went the distance against St. Norbert, allowing four earned runs while striking out five and walking one.
On the season, Kangas is 2-3 with a 2.54 ERA. His 50 strikeouts in 39 innings ranks him second in NCAA Division III in strikeouts per game.
Lawrence returns to action Saturday when it hosts Ripon College in a noon doubleheader at Whiting Field.
