APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University swimmers Patrick McCrory and Heather Prochnow have been named the Midwest Conference Performers of the Week.
McCrory, a freshman from Racine, won three events to pace the Lawrence men to a 179-91 win over Monmouth College in a dual meet. The former standout at Racine Park High School won the 100-yard backstroke in 56.35 seconds, won the 50 freestyle in 22.89 and took the 100 butterfly in 55.64. He also swam on the winning 200 medley relay team, which had a time of 1:43.16.
Prochnow, a senior from Warrenville, Ill., won three events and swam on a winning
relay team, as the Lawrence women beat Monmouth 172.5-113.5. Prochnow, who starred
at West Chicago Community High School, won the 50 freestyle in 26.34 seconds,
won the 100 freestyle in 57.42 and won the 100 butterfly in 1:05.42. She swam
on the winning 200 freestyle relay team, which had a time of 1:49.35.
Lawrence is back in action on Saturday when it hosts the Wisconsin Private College Relays in Boldt Natatorium. The meet begins at 1:00 p.m.
