APPLETON, Wis. -- For the second consecutive season, Lawrence University men's basketball star Chris Braier has been named to the preseason All-America team by D3hoops.com.
Braier, a senior forward from Wauwatosa, was named to the second team. He was the lone player selected from the Midwest Conference.
A former standout at Wauwatosa East High School, Braier was a second-team pick on the preseason All-America squad a season ago. Braier has earned D3hoops.com All-America honors following each of the last two seasons. Braier was a fourth-team selection in 2005 and a third-team choice in 2004.
Braier, who averaged 15 points and 11.5 rebounds per game last season, is ninth on Lawrence's career scoring list with 1,164 points. He ranks first in career rebounds with 949.
A three-time first-team All-Midwest Conference selection and the 2004 Player of the Year, Braier has led Lawrence to back-to-back conference titles the last two seasons. Lawrence advanced to the Elite Eight of the 2004 NCAA Division III Tournament and the second round of the 2005 tourney.
The Vikings open the season Monday when they travel to the University of Wisconsin for an exhibition game.
