Mulcahy picks up MWC Player of the Week honor

APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University volleyball standout Kelly Mulcahy has been named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week.

Mulcahy, a Glendale native, led the Vikings to a 2-1 record this past week as she piled up 52 kills, 35 digs, eight aces and a .342 hitting percentage.

In five-game win against Wisconsin Lutheran College, the sophomore outside hitter led the way with 19 kills, 17 digs, and four aces. She followed that performance with 19 kills, seven digs, and three aces in a loss at St. Norbert College. A former standout at Nicolet High School, Mulcahy finished the week with 14 kills, 11 digs, and an ace in a win over Rockford College.

On the season, Mulcahy is averaging 2.83 kills and 2.52 digs per game and has 15 aces.

The Vikings improved to 6-7 on the season and return to action this week with matches against St. Norbert and the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Lawrence travels to Monmouth College Saturday for conference matches against Lake Forest College and Monmouth.
