APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University's Hanah McCarthy has been named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week.
McCarthy, a freshman from Bozeman, Mont., is unbeaten on the young season. Playing No. 1 singles, McCarthy has a 3-0 record and has a 2-0 record at No. 3 doubles with fellow freshman Tara Lahtinen.
The former standout at Bozeman High School started her season with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Danielle Racke of Knox College. McCarthy then defeated Monmouth College's Shauna Skowronski the following day. She kept her record perfect with a 6-3, 7-6 victory over Trisha Dorr of Concordia University of Wisconsin.
McCarthy and Lahtinen also posted a pair of 8-4 wins in doubles against Knox and Monmouth.
McCarthy has helped Lawrence to a 4-0 start to the season.
The Vikings are back in action on Friday when they host Carroll College in the first Midwest Conference match of the season on the Lawrence Courts.
