APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University standout Joe Loehnis has been named the Midwest Conference Golfer of the Week for the second time in three weeks.
Loehnis, a senior from Appleton, won one event and placed second in another. The former Appleton North High School star has won two events and finished second in the other two in the four events he has played this spring.
Loehnis shot a 5-over 76 this past Saturday at Glen Erin Golf Club during the Beloit College Classic. He won a playoff to take the individual title, and the Vikings shot 326 as a team to win the team championship.
On Sunday, Loehnis carded an even-par 72 at the Broadlands Golf Club to finish second at the Carroll College Invitational. He led Lawrence to a team score of 304, which was good enough for third place in the team standings.
Lawrence is back in action Wednesday when it travels to Tuscumbia Golf Club for the Ripon College Invitational. Lawrence returns to its home course, Eagle Creek Golf Club, for the Lawrence Invitational on Saturday.
