Philbrick-Linzmeyer picks up MWC softball honor

APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University softball standout Loni Philbrick-Linzmeyer has been named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week.

The senior catcher from Green Bay batted .467 for the week and drove in 10 runs in six games. Philbrick-Linzmeyer, a former standout at Green Bay East High School, led Lawrence to a 3-3 record on the week and set a pair of school records in the process.

Philbrick-Linzmeyer went 7-for-15 with a double, a homer and 10 RBIs. Philbrick-Linzmeyer, who also drew five walks, compiled a .591 on-base percentage and .733 slugging percentage.

Her week was highlighted by going 3-for-6 with four RBIs in a doubleheader sweep of the Milwaukee School of Engineering and then going 4-for-6 with five RBIs in a doubleheader split at St. Norbert College.

With the five runs Philbrick-Linzmeyer drove in during the St. Norbert doubleheader, she moved past Lisa Bryfczynski into first place on Lawrence's career RBI list. She now has 91 for her career, eclipsing the mark of 87 set by Bryfczynski from 1996-99. She also tied the season doubles record of 12 set by Katy Decker in 1992.

The Vikings return to action Wednesday when they host Ripon College, and Lawrence wraps up the regular season on Saturday when it hosts Beloit College.
