APPLETON, Wis. -- Erin Buenzli has been named the compliance coordinator in the Lawrence University Department of Athletics and Recreation, Director of Athletics Robert Beeman announced.
"I have quickly come to respect and appreciate Erin's attention to detail and her thoroughness in analyzing situations," Beeman said. "These specific qualities will serve Erin well as she embarks on her new departmental duty of ensuring our overall compliance with NCAA rules and regulations."
Buenzli has worked at the university since 2000, when she took over as the head certified athletic trainer. Buenzli, who oversees the athletic training for Lawrence's 23 varsity sports teams, also is an assistant softball coach.
"I look forward to this opportunity to contribute to the department," Buenzli said. "This is an exciting new direction for me that enhances my professional development."
A native of Eau Claire, Buenzli is a graduate of Memorial High School, where she was a volleyball, basketball, and softball standout. She also played softball at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where she received a bachelor's degree in health promotion and athletic training in 1996.
Buenzli attended UW-La Crosse and earned a master's degree in human performance in May 1998. She served as the assistant athletic trainer and employee wellness coordinator at Grinnell College before coming to Lawrence.
