APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University men's basketball star Chris Braier has added another honor to his long list of accolades.
The All-America senior forward from Wauwatosa has been chosen as one of the "Faces in the Crowd" in the Jan. 9 issue of Sports Illustrated. The magazine cited Braier because he was "the first player in the 83-year history of the Midwest Conference to reach 1,000 career points and 1,000 rebounds."
Braier passed the 1,000-point plateau last season and is currently third on Lawrence's career scoring list with 1,312 points. He topped 1,000 rebounds back on Dec. 3 in Lawrence's 71-60 victory at Knox College. Braier now has 1,047 rebounds for his career.
Braier, a former standout at Wauwatosa East High School, is a two-time All-America selection. He has earned All-Midwest Conference honors three times and was named the league's Player of the Year in 2004.
Braier has led the Vikings to a 9-0 record this season, and the team is ranked sixth in the nation by D3hoops.com. Lawrence is tied for first place in the Midwest Conference standings with a 3-0 record.
