APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University golfer Joe Loehnis was chosen as the
Midwest Conference Player of the Week.
Loehnis, a junior from Appleton, earned the award after finishing in a tie for
15th place at the Wartburg College Invitational, which featured some of the
nation’s top teams, this past weekend.
In the first round, the former Appleton North High School star carded a 3-over
par round of 75 at Centennial Oaks Golf Club. He followed that up by shooting
a 2-over par 72 at Waverly Municipal Golf Course in the second round for a 36-hole
total of 147, seven shots off the winning total.
Led by Loehnis' effort, Lawrence finished seventh in the 20-team tournament.
Lawrence is back in action this weekend, as the Vikings play in the Ripon College
Open on Friday and Saturday and at the Carroll College Invitational on Sunday.
