APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University women’s basketball standouts Claire
Getzoff and Felice Porrata have been chosen for the All-Midwest Conference team,
as selected by league coaches.
Both players were named to the first team.
Porrata, a senior forward from Glenview, Ill., is a four-year all-conference
selection, and this is the second consecutive year she has been chosen for the
first team.
The former player at New Trier High School led the Vikings in scoring, rebounding,
steals, and blocks. She averaged 14.4 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.1 steals, and
0.6 blocks per contest. Porrata shot a respectable 48.4 percent from the floor.
She finished her career with 1,186 points and 645 rebounds. She is the only
player in Lawrence history to score 1,000 points and grab 500 rebounds. She
is second on the career scoring list, only 39 points from first place. She is
third on the career rebounding list.
Getzoff, a junior guard from Evanston, Ill., was named to the first team for
the third consecutive season.
The former standout at Evanston Township High School was second on the team
in scoring at 13.1 points per contest. She also passed the 1,000-point plateau
and is third on the career scoring list at 1,122 points with another season
to play.
Getzoff, who shot 41 percent from the floor, including 37.2 percent on 3-pointers,
led the team in assists (3.7 apg) and was third in rebounding (3.8 rpg) and
steals (2.3 spg). She also led the team by shooting 83.6 percent from the foul
line.
The Vikings finished the season with an 18-6 record and took second place in
the Midwest Conference with a 12-4 mark.
