APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University’s Chris Perry turned in a stellar
performance this past Saturday and was named the Midwest Conference Swimmer
of the Week.
A senior from Mission, Kan., Perry won two events to lead Lawrence to second
place at the Wisconsin Private College Championships.
The former standout at Shawnee Mission High School won the 100-yard butterfly
in 54.84 seconds and won the 200 freestyle in 1:50.30. Perry also placed third
in the 100 freestyle and swam on Lawrence's second-place 200 freestyle relay
team. Perry was chosen for the all-state team that is picked by coaches at the
meet.
The Viking swimmers aren’t back in action until Feb. 11, when they travel
to Grinnell College for the Midwest Conference Championships.
