APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University softball players Jenny Burris and Becca Reason were both named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Great Lakes Region team.
Burris, a senior shortstop from Gurnee, Ill., was chosen for the first team for the second straight season. Burris, a four-time all-Midwest Conference selection, batted .457 with eight doubles, three triples, three home runs, and 27 runs batted in.
Burris, a former standout at Warren Township High School, finished her career at Lawrence as the school's leader in several categories. She tops the all-time list for hits (184), runs scored (123), doubles (38), triples (10), total bases (266), and stolen bases (103). She finished with a career batting average of .436.
Reason, a sophomore center fielder from Minnetonka, Minn., was a third-team selection and made the second team as a freshman. One of the top defensive outfielders in the region, Reason was Lawrence's lead-off hitter and batted .303. The former star at Minnetonka High School also swiped 12 bases in 13 tries.
Lawrence finished the season with a 19-15 record and took second place in the Midwest Conference North Division. The Vikings qualified for the four-team conference tournament for the third consecutive season.
