APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University standout Andy Link has been chosen as the Midwest Conference Golfer of the Week.
Link, a sophomore from Rochester, Minn., won the award after taking seventh place at the Gustavus Adolphus College Spring Invitational on April 19-20. The former Century High School star carded rounds of 72 and 76 at LeSueur Country Club and a 75 at the Ridges at Sand Creek to finish with an 11-over 223. The field included a number of elite teams from the Midwest Region. Led by Link, who paces the team with a 76.0 stroke average this spring, Lawrence finished seventh among the 14 teams.
The Vikings do not compete again until the Midwest Conference Championships May 6-8 at Aldeen Golf Club in Rockford, Ill.
Founded in 1847, Lawrence University has produced seven Rhodes Scholars and was again named one of the countryıs best national liberal arts colleges by U.S. News and World Report in its 2003-04 Guide to American Colleges.
