Ali to guide Lawrence University men's tennis program

APPLETON, Wis. -- Asma Ali has been chosen as the new head coach of the Lawrence University men's tennis team, Director of Athletics Kim Tatro announced Wednesday.

Ali, a 1998 Lawrence graduate and native of Beaver Dam, has served as an assistant for the men's team for the past two seasons.

"Asma has been a significant part of the Lawrence tennis family since 1994," Tatro said. "Her elevation to become the head coach of our women's program this fall proved valuable and we anticipate the same to be true for our men's program. All involved with the program believe that her energy and enthusiasm can take the men's program to new heights."

In her first season as head coach of the women's team, she led the Vikings to a 7-7-1 record. The men's team returns a number of players from last year's team that finished third in the Midwest Conference.

Ali, a former standout player at Wayland Academy, starred at No. 1 singles and doubles for the Vikings during her collegiate career.
