Kouba, a sophomore pitcher/outfielder from Roselle, Ill., earned the honor after turning in a stellar performance in a doubleheader against Carroll College. Kouba, playing right field in both contests, batted .714, as the Vikings split a pair of games.
The former star at Lake Park High School went 2-for-2 in the first game, a 6-2 Lawrence win, with two runs scored and three RBIs. In the nightcap, an 8-6 Carroll win in 12 innings, he went 3-for-5 with a run scored.
For the two games, Kouba was 5-for-7 with two doubles, three RBIs, a 1.000 slugging percentage, and a .778 on-base percentage. He handled seven chances in the field without an error, and that included a superb catch near the right-field fence.
For the season, Kouba leads Lawrence in hitting at .469. He has three doubles, a homer, and a team-high 12 RBIs.
