Ebert shatters school record; earns MWC Performer of the Week honors

APPLETON, WIS. - Shelley Ebert was named the Midwest Conference women's track Performer of the Week after shattering her own school record in the 800 meters this past weekend.

Ebert, a Janesville native, ran to the title in the 800 at the Elmhurst College Invitational in 2 minutes, 14.30 seconds, breaking her own record of 2:17.45.

Ebert, a former standout at Craig High School, also earned provisional qualifying status for the NCAA Division III Championships, set for May 22-24 at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. She currently has the ninth-fastest time in the nation.

Ebert is no stranger to running at the national championships. She ran in the 2002 NCAA Indoor Championships in the 800. She was the 13th qualifier and ran a time of 2:18.01, only five-hundreths of a second from making the final.
