St. Norbert rolls past Lawrence women in Midwest Conference Tournament

DE PERE, Wis. - St. Norbert College broke the game open in the first half and rolled to a 65-45 win over Lawrence University in the semifinals of the Midwest Conference women's basketball tournament Friday night.

The Green Knights went on a 21-6 run over the final 11:15 of the first half to grab a 34-15 lead at the break. St. Norbert (20-4) then led by as many as 34 points in the second half before Lawrence (13-11) cut the final deficit to 20. St. Norbert will play Lake Forest College at 2:00 p.m. Saturday for the conference title and the automatic NCAA Tournament bid.

Susan Schramka led a balanced attack for St. Norbert with 12 points, and Abbey Johnson added 10 points and seven rebounds. Claire Getzoff poured in 27 points for the Vikings in a losing effort.

Lawrence trailed by six points early when Cassie Benzschawel's jumper cut St. Norbert's lead to 13-9 with 11:15 left in the first half. All the Vikings would get for the remainder of the half was a pair of 3-pointers from Getzoff, as St. Norbert built a 19-point halftime edge.

The Green Knights went on another 21-6 run to build a 55-21 lead, its largest of the game, at the 10:13 mark of the second half.
