Lawrence captured six championships, with two apiece going to Jodie Primus and Tom Carroll.
Primus, a junior from Madison, won the first conference titles of her career. A former La Follette High School standout, Primus captured the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 15.57 seconds and won the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.95. She also took third in the 400 IM in 4:49.32.
Carroll, a senior from Elmhurst, Ill., won the 1,650 freestyle in 16:29.79 and earned a provisional qualifying spot for the NCAA Division III Championships in the process. He also won the 500 freestyle in 4:43.18, taking the title in that event for the second consecutive year. Carroll, a former star at York High School, also took second in the 200 freestyle in 1:44.10.
Nick Heuer, a sophomore from Davenport, Iowa, won the 100 breaststroke for the second consecutive year with a time of 59.52 seconds. The former standout at Central High School also took second in the 200 breaststroke in 2:11.62, losing the race by one one-hundreth of a second.
The menıs 800 freestyle relay team of Carroll, Adam Kolb (St. Paul, Minn.), Chris Perry (Mission, Kan.), and Steve Wolfe (Menomonie) won the title with a time of 7:08.47. Three other menıs relays finished in the top three, with the 400 freestyle relay taking second, and the 200 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay both taking third.
Also on the menıs side, Tom Towle of Mendota Heights, Minn., was second in the 3-meter diving and third in the 1-meter diving. David Danenhower, an Urbana, Ill., native, placed second in the 400 IM in 4:24.75, and Perry was third in the 100 butterfly in 54.84 seconds.
Stephanie Novakov of Cincinnati, Ohio, grabbed third in 1,650 freestyle in 18:31.55. Two womenıs relays placed in the top three. The 400 freestyle relay was third in 3:51.31, and the 800 freestyle relay was third in 8:35.46.
