Greta Raaen, a sophomore forward from Byron, Minn., was named the Offensive Player of the Week, and Katie Wilkin, a senior goalkeeper from Oregon, Wis., earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Raaen propelled Lawrence to a 5-0 win over Beloit College in the Midwest Conference regular-season finale for both teams last Saturday. The former Byron High School standout scored two goals and added an assist in the victory. Raaen assisted on the gamešs first goal and scored her first goal of the game six minutes later. Raaen finished off her day with a goal in the 83rd minute.
Raaen leads the team with eight goals, six assists, and 22 points.
Wilkin, a former star at Oregon High School, was named the Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season. Wilkin made four saves against the Buccaneers to post her third solo shutout of the season. A two-time All-Midwest Conference selection, Wilkin has a 1.73 goals against average and an .868 save percentage this season.
The Vikings finished the regular season with an 8-7 record and a 7-2 mark in conference play. Lawrence qualified for the four-team Midwest Conference Tournament, which will be played this Friday and Saturday at Carroll College in Waukesha. The Vikings face No. 1 seed Carroll in a 2:00 p.m. match Friday at Waukesha South High School, and Grinnell College and St. Norbert College play in the other semifinal. The semifinal winners meet in the championship game Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
