Pair of Lawrence hockey players earn MCHA weekly honors

APPLETON, WIS. - Lawrence University hockey players Andy Rozanski and Daniel Ljung were both honored by the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association this week.

Rozanski, a sophomore forward from New Berlin, was named the MCHA Player of the week, and Ljung, a freshman goalie from Avesta, Sweden, earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

Rozanski was honored for the first time in his career after scoring two of Lawrence's three goals this past weekend. Rozanski, who had eight goals and seven assists last season, scored Lawrence's lone goal in a 7-1 loss at the University of Wisconsin-Stout last Friday. Rozanski, who played prep hockey at the Hoosac School in Hoosick, N.Y., opened the scoring at Stout on Saturday night, with a goal just 1:25 into the game.

Ljung got the nod for Rookie of the Week for his play in the game last Saturday. Making his first collegiate start, Ljung almost got his first collegiate victory. He made 42 saves and had a save percentage of .933 in a 3-2, overtime loss to Stout.

Lawrence is back in action this weekend at Marian College. The Vikings and Sabres square off Friday and Saturday, and they drop the puck at 7:00 p.m. both nights.
