Pair of Vikings earn All-MCHA honors; Blick named to all-tournament team

APPLETON, WIS. - Two Lawrence University players were honored on the All-Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association team, as chosen by the league's coaches. Seniors Tom Conti and Stu Manning were both named to the second team.

Conti, a forward from Dunwoody, Ga., was named to the team for the first time. The three-time team captain scored eight goals and had eight assists for 16 points in conference play. Conti recorded a hat trick vs. Northland College on Dec. 16 and was named the MCHA Player of the Week for his performance in that weekend sweep of the Lumberjacks.

Conti, a former standout at Marist Academy and for the Atlanta Junior Knights, finished the season with 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points.

Conti finished his career as the leader in goals (40), assists (44), and points (84).

Manning, a native of Monona, led all Lawrence defenseman with four goals, eight assists, and 12 points. Manning, a team captain, had season highs of two goals vs. Finlandia University and two assists vs. Northland. He finished with two goals and six assists for eight points in MCHA play. Manning ranks second on the school's career list for assists with 28 and sixth with 37 points.

Lawrence freshman forward Ryan Blick was honored for his play this past weekend at the MCHA Tournament. Blick, a freshman from Canton, Mich., led the Vikings to third place in the five-team tourney at the Appleton Family Ice Center.

Blick started the tournament by scoring the game-winning goal in a 3-2 victory over Northland College in Friday night's semifinal qualifier game. Blick had two goals and an assist in Lawrence's 5-4 overtime win over Milwaukee School of Engineering in the consolation game. Blick, who earned conference Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors during the season, scored the game-winning goal 1:56 into overtime to give Lawrence the victory.
