Hurley grabs conference swimming honor for second time this season

APPLETON, WIS. - Lawrence University's Daniel Hurley was named the Midwest Conference Male Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season.

Hurley, who was named MWC Swimmer of the Year last season, won two events and took second in another at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Triangular on Saturday.

The senior from St. Phillip's, Newfoundland, won the 200-yard freestyle in 1 minute, 47.40 seconds, the best time in the conference this season. He also swam to victory in the 500 freestyle in 5:02.08. That time was second in the league this season, trailing only his own time of 4:57.29. Hurley also took second in the 100 backstroke in 59.32 seconds.

The Vikings are back in action this weekend at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational. Lawrence will host the Midwest Conference Championships Feb. 15-17.
