Summer Institute for Advanced Placement (AP) Chemistry Teachers - July 2002

Karen Nordell and Bruce Smith lead a week-long Summer Institute for Advanced Placement (AP) chemistry teachers, July 7-12, 2002. Twenty teachers from around Wisconsin and Illinois took part in the week. Bruce Smith, an experienced AP teacher from Appleton North, provided much of the practical advice and ‘how-to’ help for several of the teachers that were going to be teaching AP chemistry for the first time.

In the middle of the week, many AP biology teachers and a few AP chemistry teachers participated in a workshop lead by Paul Williams, Professor Emeritus, Department of Plant Pathology at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. This was a full day of hands-on experimenting with plants, seeds, flowers and even bees and butterflies.
