Professor of Computer Science and Chemistry
Princeton University, M.A., Ph.D.
Prof. Evans joined Lawrence in 1966, with a background in nuclear, physical, and inorganic chemistry. Over the course of his career, he has published on topics ranging from nuclear physics to chemistry and the biosciences, as well as a series of books about 64-bit computer architecture. Currently he offers a non-major course "Life Sciences by Number" and the interdisciplinary course "The Elements of Life," as well as several computer science courses: "Hardware Organization," Computer Architecture," and "Operating Systems." His research interests focus on studies of the structure and interactions of proteins or protein fragments, using 2-D nmr (nuclear magnetic resonance) techniques.
