Chamber Music Odyssey

Chamber Music Odyssey is a day camp for motivated string and piano students ages 11-18 looking to broaden their musical experiences by exploring the repertoire and techniques of chamber music literature.

A day at camp includes ensemble coaching with faculty; sight singing; “fingerboard geography,” a hands on approach to music theory for string players; score reading and sight reading classes for pianists; and a string orchestra rehearsal.

Ensembles are formed based on age, ability, experience and instrumentation to ensure skill-level compatibility. Classes are taught by skilled, inspiring, widely respected teachers in a setting designed to foster musical creativity, self-confidence and the ability to make music with others.

Snacks and lunch at Lucindas in Colman Hall will be provided. Each day will include swim or recreational time at the Buchanan-Kiewitt Recreation Center. A final “informance” on Friday afternoon is open to families.

Eligibility:
Chamber Music Odyssey is open to violin students performing at WSMA level A, viola and cello students performing at WSMA level A or B, and high school piano students performing at WSMA level A with fluency in sight reading and upon the recommendation of their piano teachers.
