LU residence hallway and outside phones are available for outbound calls to on-campus numbers, local area numbers, toll free numbers, as well as for emergencies. Lawrence does NOT provide a phone jack in student rooms. Students provide their own means for making long distance calls and receiving calls on campus. In student rooms where there is limited to no cell reception, Lawrence will consider placing a phone line for emergency purposes only. This phone line will only be able to place 911 and campus calls. Placing calls from campus phones:
Dial 9 + 911 to reach local Emergency Services, or
Dial 6999 to reach Lawrence University Campus Security.
If you know the number, simply dial the 4 digit extension.

If you are unsure of the number for a campus department, faculty or staff member, the LU switchboard operator can locate the number and transfer your call. To reach the operator:
Dial 0 or extension 7000.
Lawrence University covers local call charges. To make a local call:
Dial 9 + the seven digit phone number.
