Changing Your Password

Your initial network password will be set by ITS, however the first time you access your account you will be required to change it. The password is valid for 365 days. This password is used to access the Lawrence network and your Lawrence e-mail account. You may change or reset a forgotten password at anytime, from on or off campus by following the instructions listed below.

The Account Center:

The account center allows users to manage their network account, connect to WebMail (e-mail) and access Voyager. From this tool you may change or reset your forgotten network password. Note, you will need your username and Lawrence ID number.

Changing your network and e-mail password:

    1. From an Internet browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox, go to the account center at https://viking.lawrence.edu/.
    2. Click on Manage your network account.
    3. Enter your username and Lawrence ID number.
    4. Click Continue.
    5. Click the Change Password button. If this is the first time you have used your password it will be pre-expired.
    6. In the Old password field enter the your current password.
    7. In the New password field enter an eight or more character password. ITS recommends that password be 8-14 characters long and contain a combination of letters and numbers. See Password Protocol for additional recommendations.
    8. Retype your new password in the Confirm new password field.
    9. Click OK when finished. A confirmation window will appear when the password is successfully changed. Please wait 5 minutes before attempting to use your account and new password.

Resetting your forgotten network and e-mail password:

    1. From an Internet browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox, go to the account center at https://viking.lawrence.edu/.
    2. Click on Manage your network account.
    3. Enter your username and Lawrence ID number.
    4. Click Continue.
    5. Click the Reset Forgotten Password button.
    6. Enter your 6 character Voyager pin in the Voyager pin field.
    7. Click Next.
    8. Enter the answer to your security question.
    9. Click Next.
    10. In the New password field enter an eight or more character password. ITS recommends that password be 8-14 characters long and contain a combination of letters and numbers. See Password Protocol for additional recommendations.
    11. Retype your new password in the Confirm new password field.
    12. Click Finish-Reset my password. A confirmation window will appear when the password is successfully changed. Please wait 5 minutes before attempting to use your account and new password.

From On-Campus only:

Use if you are on campus AND know your password but want to change it.

Window Users

    1. Press the Ctrl-Alt-Del keys at the same time.
    2. Choose the Change Password button.
    3. Enter your old password, your desired new password and confirm your new password by entering it a second time. Note, that your new password must be at least 8 characters in length.
    4. Press OK.

Macintosh Users

Must use the account center web page. See instructions above.

Note: If you are not using at least OS 10.4, you must log into either a Windows computer and follow the "change password" instructions for a Windows user or use the account center and follow the above instructions.

 


Personal Network Space and Campus Share

The instructions below apply to personal computers that have been registered on the Lawrence Network. For computers issued by ITS, your personal network space and campus share space are made available automatically.
