Changing Your Password
Your network password is used to access the Lawrence network as well as your Lawrence e-mail account. Your initial network password is set by ITS. However, the first time you access your account you will be required to change this password. Your new password is then valid for 365 days.
You may change or reset a forgotten password at anytime, provided you know your LU username and ID number, through the online Account Center. The Account Center also allows you to connect to LU's e-mail client and access Voyager.
Changing your network and e-mail password:
- From a browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox, go to the Account Center at https://viking.lawrence.edu/
- Click on Manage your network account.
- Enter your username and Lawrence ID number.
- Click Continue.
- Click the Change Password button. If this is the first time you have used your password it will be pre-expired.
- In the Old password field enter your current password.
- In the New password field enter your new password. *See Password Protocol for specific password requirements.*
- Retype your new password in the Confirm new password field.
- Click OK when finished. A confirmation window will appear when the password is successfully changed. Please wait 5 minutes before attempting to use your account and new password.
Resetting your forgotten network and e-mail password:
- From a browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox, go to the Account Center at https://viking.lawrence.edu/
- Click on Manage your network account.
- Enter your username and Lawrence ID number.
- Click Continue.
- Click the Reset Forgotten Password button.
- Enter your 6 character Voyager pin in the Voyager pin field.
- Click Next.
- Enter the answer to your security question.
- Click Next.
- In the New password field enter your new password. *See Password Protocol for specific password requirements.*
- Retype your new password in the Confirm new password field.
- Click Finish-Reset my password. A confirmation window will appear when the password is successfully changed. Please wait 5 minutes before attempting to use your account and new password.
Alternate instructions if using a Windows station on campus:
Use these instructions if you know your password and simply want to change it.
- Press the Ctrl-Alt-Del keys at the same time.
- Choose the Change Password button.
- Enter your old password, your desired new password and confirm your new password by entering it a second time.
- Press OK.
Personal Network Space and Campus Share
The instructions below apply to personal computers that have been registered on the Lawrence Network. For computers issued by ITS, your personal network space and campus share space are made available automatically. Please note: ITS policy requires that all faculty and staff bring their personal computer to the ITS Helpdesk for registration before it will be possible to map network drives.
