Lawrence University is the process of upgrading the major residence halls to include wireless service. During the 2010 summer break Colman Hall was upgraded with wireless networking for all student rooms and lounges. During term 1 of the 2010-2011 academic year Technology Services expects to complete the installation of the wireless network in Trever and Plantz halls. Other residence halls may be completed during the academic year but specific plans are not yet available.
If you live in a residence hall that has Lawrence wireless network coverage it is important to note that you CANNOT use your own wireless access point or router as they will interfere with the Lawrence wireless network. To ensure the proper functioning of the Lawrence wireless network Technology Service will work to find and remove any sources of wireless interference.
If you live in a location that does not yet have the Lawrence wireless network available students may purchase and use personal wireless access points provided the Technology Services Configuration Instructions are followed.
