Scanning Images and Pictures
Please note these instructions are written for the scanner located in the
ITC lab. Although the following instructions should be very
similar to other scanners located on campus, there might be slight differences.
Preliminary Instructions
- Make sure the scanner is on. The on/off switch is located on the right side of the scanner.
- Place a picture/image face down in the top right-hand corner of the scanner glass surface.
Scanning Images
- Choose Start-Programs-Adobe Photo Shop Element.
- From the File menu, choose Import-HP Precision
Scan Pro.
- Lay the image on the scanning bed.
- The HP scanjet source will automatically pop up. At this point you can
select the image type (bw drawing, bw photo, or color photo)
- Once the image is scanned crop the image to the desired size by clicking-dragging
the mouse over the area. A dash-outline will appear around the area.
- Click
Scan-Place Image. The image will be scanned once again and imported into
Photoshop Elements.
- Once in Photoshop Elements the image can be edited
as necessary.
- To save the image, choose File-Save. Navigate to
where you want to save the file. Type in a file name and change the file
type to GIF or
JPG. Note, other file types take up a lot of file space. JPG works best
with images that have many color values, while GIF works best when images
have
large areas of one color.
- Remove original from scanner surface.
