Design Sets: Displays tpyes of publications designed to go together as a set.

Using Frames

Every object in a publication must be in a frame. Each type of frame is created by clicking one of the tools on the Objects toolbar. In most cases, simply drag diagonally to set the frame size.

Using a Wizard to change your publication

Once you have used the step-by-step wizard to create your publication, you can go back to the wizard at any time to make changes.

Use the wizard to:

  • change the design
  • switch the color scheme
  • convert a newsletter or brochure to a web site, or vice-versa
  • include an address block on a publication for easy mail merging

Moving and Resizing Objects

Every object has 8 small white circles around its edge called control handles. These allow you to manipulate the object’s dimensions. To resize an object, click and drag one of the control handles.

Tip: To resize the object while maintaining the original ratio of width to height, hold the Shift key while dragging one of the corner handles.

To move an object, place the cursor over it until it turns into the move icon. Then click and drag the object to the desired position.

Note: To move text boxes, you will have to drag them by the edges since clicking in the middle selects the text inside.

Connecting Text Frames

Ordinarily, as text is typed, it gradually fills the text frame. Any text that doesn’t fit in the frame is placed in the "overflow area."

The Text In Overflow indicator becomes active indicating the presence of text that is not visible. Text in the overflow area must be corrected by either resizing the text box, or by making it spill over into another frame.

To link overflow text to a new text frame:
1. On the toolbar, click Create Text Box Link icon.
2. The mouse pointer becomes a pitcher of text.
3. Click anywhere inside an empty text frame to "pour" the text into the second frame.

Disconnecting Text Frames

To disconnect two frames:

  1. Select the first frame by clicking it.
  2. Click the Break Forward Link icon on the toolbar.
