Jupiter String Quartet

“The Jupiter String Quartet performs with free-wheeling excitement and precise ensemble. As you would expect from a group that named itself after the king of the gods, they don’t lack for confidence.”

The Jupiter String Quartet, winners of both the Banff International String Quartet Competition and the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, performs April 12, 2013. The Jupiter String Quartet is rising to the top of the substantial heap of exciting young American string quartets.

Formed in 2001, Boston-based Jupiter added winners of the Young Concert Artists International auditions to its resume in 2005. Recently the quartet marked another career milestone, playing the complete Beethoven cycle – all 16 works – for the Aspen Music Festival last summer. In the quartet’s Napa debut it floored the audience with the Mendelssohn op. 80. Other notable performances have included Mendelssohn’s op. 44, No. 1 along with the Beethoven op. 74, and the searing Bartok String Quartet No. 6.
