Fall 2007 Auditions for Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Symphonic Band

Saturday, September 22 – Freshman Strings
Sunday, September 23 – Freshman Woodwinds and Brass
Monday, September 24 – Returning Woodwinds/Brass
Tuesday, September 25 – Returning Strings and all Saxophones
Auditions will be 5 minutes in length. Teachers have either requested that you purchase an excerpt book or they have requested that you purchase specific orchestral parts which can be ordered from Kalmus at (800) 434-6340. If you have any questions regarding excerpts, please contact your studio teacher (contact information follows). Conductors reserve the right to request sight-reading with all auditioning students.
Upon your arrival at school, please sign up for an audition time. Sheets will be at the Conservatory Help Desk on September 20 and 21. After those dates the sheets will be posted on the Orchestra Board, located behind the main office in the Conservatory building. Time slots will be available on a first come/first serve basis.
We encourage all non-music majors to audition for any ensemble. (Students who are NOT music majors and would like to audition for Symphonic Band ONLY should prepare an etude or solo of their choice—NOT the excerpts on the printed audition list.)
***It is wise to order your audition material early. Publishers have been known to take many weeks for delivery!***
