Carnegie Hall Community Programs
This position is to provide general assistance and administrative support for the Community Programs team in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute, the education and community arm of one of the leading music presenters in the world. The student intern will work with a dedicated staff to help prepare for the 2017-2018 season which will include more than 100 events across three different programs – the Neighborhood Concert Series, the McGraw-Hill Companies CarnegieKids, and Musical Connections. These programs are committed to serving more than 18,000 people annually with free, quality music programming featuring first-class musicians from all over the world. The intern will join and contribute to a team focused on providing quality community engagement events through exceptional artistic programming, production, artist professional development, strategic marketing, and rigorous program assessment.

The Neighborhood Concert Series, more than 35 years old, presents concerts each season featuring some of the best musicians from throughout the city and around the world performing classical, jazz, and world music. The McGraw-Hill Companies CarnegieKids concerts are designed for children ages 3-6 and fun for the whole family. Concerts are highly interactive, engaging kids in singing, movement, and instrument demonstrations. Musical Connections provides free interactive performances, creative projects, and artist residencies in homeless shelters, correctional facilities, healthcare settings, and senior service organizations. Professional Development for artists is an integral part of the program, providing rigorous conversations, activities, and resources to assist the musicians in working in these unique settings. Concerts and events take place between October and June. July and August are planning months for the next season.
Student Qualifications: Applicant must be extremely detail-oriented, organized, efficient, and self-motivated. She/he must have the ability to meet deadlines in dynamic, fast-paced office environment. She/he must be able to work collaboratively and be a part of team, have good interpersonal skills, be professional, and flexible. Candidate should be computer proficient on PC platforms, and know Word and Excel in Microsoft Office. Knowledge of PowerPoint and Outlook is a plus.
