Monte L. Perkins

Lecturer in Music

Monte L. Perkins received a B.F.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and M.M. from the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music studying with David Beadle, Stephen Basson, and Arthur Weisberg. He is principal bassoonist with the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra and Milwaukee Opera Orchestra and a frequent performer with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. He continues his long association as program host, interviewer, and arts commentator for WFMR-FM, Milwaukee's classical music radio station. Increasingly active as a conductor, Mr. Perkins was named music director of Milwaukee's semi-professional Festival City Symphony in 1990 and has led concerts for the Music Under the Stars and Pillow Pops series. Prior to joining the Lawrence faculty in 1987, Mr. Perkins taught for the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, Alverno College, and Carroll College.
