
Steve Peplin concurrently serves as adjunct jazz guitar instructor at Lawrence and as Professor of Composition, Major Instrument Guitar I-IV, Harmony and Music Appreciation at Milwaukee Area Technical College. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Berklee College of Music with a B.A. in composition and earned an Associate degree in Occupational Music from MATC.
Steve has performed throughout America and the Caribbean with Dr. Art Davis (of John Coltrane fame), the Doc Severinsen Ensemble, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Berklee Chamber Orchestra, Maureen McGovern, The Platters, Jack Grassel, Berklee Fudge, Dierdre Fellner, and many more. His Invocation Trio has appeared at the Knitting Factory (New York and Los Angeles) and the Hot House (Chicago.) He won the Wisconsin Guitar Wars contest in 1993.
Steve produces, records, and releases albums for Aeclectica Records, his own record label. He oversees many projects from disparate genres including Fugato (Latin jazz), Invocation Trio (avant garde), Steve Peplin Trio (jazz), the Soul Dealers (blues, hip-hop, funk, soul), Imperfekt System (rock, hip-hop, alternative) and Deblin Sevet (hip-hop, rock.)
Steve writes for Guitar One Magazine and has authored numerous transcription books for Hal Leonard Publishing Corporation. He is also a prolific composer of contemporary classical works, jazz compositions, songs, and spoken word pieces (using the name Deblin Sevet), and he has recently been commissioned to compose string quintets for the Elysian Arts Ensemble in Los Angeles.
