Stéphane Tran Ngoc

Assistant Professor of Music

The Paris-born violinist Stéphane Tran Ngoc joined the Lawrence Conservatory faculty in 2001. He has performed in over 30 countries around the world, and has been awarded prizes at numerous international competitions, including the Lipizer and Paganini competitions in Italy, the Artists International Auditions in New York, and the Long-Thibaud International Competition in Paris. From 1996-2001 he was violin teacher at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon.

Mr. Tran Ngoc has appeared as soloist with many of the world's most prominent orchestras (e.g., Radio-France Philharmonic, Toulouse Chamber Orchestra, Monte-Carlo Philharmonic, Mexico National State Orchestra, and the Shinsei Symphony Orchestra of Japan) and on many of the world's greates stages (e.g., Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Théatre des Champs-Elysées, Beijing National Concert Hall, and Tokyo Suntori Hall). His growing discography reflects the wide range of his repertoire, including works by Vivaldi, Beethoven, Schumann, Brahms, Sarasate, Ravel, Ysaye, Bartok, and Nigg.

Mr. Tran Ngoc graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where he earned 1st prize in violin at the age of 15. He then continued his musical studies in the USA, both at Brooklyn College's Conservatory of Music (CUNY) as a pupil of Itzhak Perlman, and at the Juilliard School with Dorothy Delay. Mr. Tran Ngoc plays on a violin by Francesco Gobetti, 1709.
