Postdoctoral Fellow
John Mayrose is a Postdoctoral Fellow of Music Composition at the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music. He holds the Ph.D. in Music Composition from Duke University and the Bachelor of Music Degree in guitar performance from the University of South Carolina. His music has been played throughout North America, Europe, and Australia, by among others, Duo46, Fireworks Ensemble, the Bang on a Can All-Stars, Duo d'amore, and pulsoptional. He is the recipient of the ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer's Award, the Aliénor Prize, the William Klenz Prize in Composition, and an Encore grant from the American Composers Forum with Duo46.
Mr. Mayrose is an active performer on guitar and electric bass and is a member of the new music ensemble and composers' collective, pulsoptional. His teachers have included Stephen Jaffe, Scott Lindroth, Sidney Hodkinson, and Christopher Berg.
