Pianist Tad Hardin enjoys an active collaborative performance career and maintains a diverse concert schedule with many singers, instrumentalists and chamber groups. His performing engagements have taken him to venues throughout the U.S., Europe, and South America.
He has studied with many distinguished artists and pedagogues including Martin Katz, Graham Johnson, David Allen Wehr, Carolyn Bridger, Tim Hoekman, Doug Fisher, and Karyl Louwenaar. Other influential teachers from festivals and masterclasses include John Wustman, Phyllis Curtin, Sarah Walker, Denyce Graves, John Harbison, Craig Smith, John Hall, Norman Shetler, the Oberlin Baroque Ensemble, and the Penderecki String Quartet.
Hardin earned his Doctor of Music degree in piano performance at the Florida State University College of Music, where he also earned a master’s degree in vocal coaching. His treatise and ongoing research focuses on the study of effective orchestral accompanying and the comparative analysis of performance editions. He is also a frequent presenter of lecture-performances at national conferences for the College Music Society.
Hardin previously held positions on the faculty of Spring Arbor University and the staff of Florida State Opera, and now joins the Lawrence Conservatory as a Vocal Coach and Faculty Fellow. He also regularly teaches at summer festivals, such as the Songfest Young Artist Program ( California), the Festival Internacional de Bach (Perú), and the Asolo Song Festival ( Italy), where he serves as the Director of Collaborative Performance.
