All auditions are approximately 10 minutes in length and will consist of elements listed below. All students may audition for any ensemble.
Upon your arrival at school, please sign up for an audition time. Sign-up sheets will be located at the Conservatory orientation help desk in the Conservatory Shattuck lobby. Time slots will be available on a first come/first serve basis. (Your assistance in auditioning early in the week will be appreciated.)

Please note: This year, both ensembles will travel to Bjorklunden on the same weekend and both ensembles will be gone for the entire weekend.

Audition Procedures for Concert Choir/Cantala (MUEN 275/272):
1. Prepare the following excerpts:
- Lobet dem Herrn, alle Heiden (excerpt) - J.S. Bach: prepare one part of your choosing (from p. 27 to p. 29, rehearsal letter O [finish the word "Alleluja"])
- Introitus (excerpt) from Lux Aeterna- Morten Lauridsen: prepare any vocal part of your choosing
- O Danny Boy - Old Irish Aire: As you will notice, we have purposely removed all musical markings from this excerpt. We would like you to demonstrate your interpretive and musical intuition and creativity by including crescendos, decrescendos, dynamics and articulations as you deem appropriate for the performance of this piece.
2. Be prepared to sight read and vocalize throughout your range.
3. Testing of rhythmic and tonal recall abilities.
Audition Procedures for Lawrence Chorale (MUEN 270):
1. Introductory choral experience open to all students.
2. Prepare a short solo of your choice for correct voice placement in the ensemble.

- Repetition - arr. Lee Tomboulian. (Prepare any part appropriate to your range on the excerpt. Be able to sing your part alone and while others are singing other parts.)
- There Will Never Be Another You - arr. Carl Kennedy. (Prepare any part appropriate to your range on the excerpt. Be able to sing your part alone and while others are singing other parts.)
- Prepare a short, memorized jazz solo (your choice) that shows your abilities as a performer.
Voice majors must clear their participation in this ensemble with their studio teacher.
