This course offers an analytic and practical approach to teaching and performing music for solo voice in several genres. Classical and music theater repertoire will be primary foci, with special emphasis on translation (if in foreign language) and subtexting. Also included will be recitation, monologue acting, blocking, abstract and descriptive movement styles. The participants should build and improve a body of skills which they can apply to any selection, and bring away a body of repertoire which they can perform for and use with their own students. All voice and body types are welcome.
