July 12-17, 2009

The Lawrence University Summer Institute is an intense enrichment opportunity for those who teach high school students. Institute courses, limited to 15 or 20 participants each, are taught by Lawrence University faculty, who also assist the participants with the development of curricula and materials appropriate to individual needs and interests.

Courses include advanced content that virtually any teacher will find valuable.

Registration deadline extended to June 5, 2009

Course Credit

Four or six units of graduate credit are available (equivalent to two or three semester hours). Both the four- and six-unit options meet all day Monday through Thursday and until noon on Friday. The six-credit option requires in addition, a paper or project that is completed and returned after the Summer Institute concludes. Lawrence, itself, does not offer graduate degrees, so the acceptability of the credits toward a graduate degree is at the discretion of the institution granting the degree. Lawrence is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.

Facilities

Participants may commute or stay on the Lawrence campus. Residents are housed in Hiett Hall which overlooks the Fox River, and has modern air-conditioned rooms with private bathrooms. All participants have access to the Seeley G. Mudd Library, science laboratories, computers, and the Buchanan Kiewit Recreation Center with its swimming pool, racquetball courts, and weight-training equipment.
