This hands-on seminar will emphasize the participants' continued education with a focused attention to their teaching needs. It is especially designed for the AP Spanish Language high school teacher, but those not currently teaching an AP course can also benefit from it.
The participants will explore different approaches to the teaching of the target language through the discussion and sharing of a number of strategies designed to teach the language skills as well as culture. The seminar will also address the incorporation of literature and film in the language classroom through the writings of Jorge Luis Borges, Gabriel García Márquez, and Ana María Matute and through video selections from the Lawrence University Library.
The course will include a half-day workshop on practical techniques conducted by a high school Spanish instructor.
Instructor: Gustavo Fares, associate professor of Spanish, Lawrence University
