Calendar software

Links and quotes (mostly) from the UWEBD list. No particular order.

U of Flordia College of Law
"The Event Calendar program is free to non-profits and educational, so that helps a lot. The address of the company is http://www.interactivescripts.com. ...its one of the best I have seen."

U of Northern Colorado
"We looked at a number of calendars, both free and commercial, but none really did what we wanted. I recommended altering an open-source calendar written in PHP3 with a database backend in MySQL, and that was accepted. I added categories to it and a link for "all events for today...."
Features:
*Graphical calendar or text list
*Events appear in a small window with details (except for the non-javascript version). There is a close button for the window, but it also will disappear when the window loses focus.
*Anyone on campus can enter an event. This is loaded into a separate table in the database, and I receive an email. I can quickly look at each event, edit if necessary, and approve with a single click. That approval makes the event live on the calendar. It is also simple to edit events, or to delete individual events. I can also expire a month's worth of events at a time."

Earlham's Web Calendar
"As seen at www.earlham.edu/~calendar, WebCalendar is -- as the name suggests -- an event calendar. WebCalendar offers views by month and date. It also allows users to add suggested events (not shown at Earlham's page), an adminstrators tool to edit the events and edit suggested events and a data analyzer tool which examines the frequency of certain types of events. The analyzer uses the events "type" form which is set by the administrators. The calendar also can display these types (such as Art, Sports, Leisure, Service, etc.) in different colors. To install, edit the template files only. Freeware. (Perl)"

SIU's PerlCal implementation
"There's a free version available to educational institutions. It accomplishes most of what folks are interested in - certainly for the price." http://www.perlcal.com/
