Honors at Lawrence
Some information for 2011-2012

In addition there are student representatives to the Committee.
Beginning with the Spring, 2012 term, all Honors Projects submitted will be archived digitally in Lawrence University’s institutional repository, Lux.
- Authors of Honors Projects will have the option of having their projects published on the open web or restricted to access on-campus only.
- If an author of an Honors Project chooses to be published on the open web, he/she must hold the copyright to all components in his/her project (text, images, audio, video, etc.,) or must obtain permission from the copyright holder(s) to use them.
- If copyright protected images, audio, video, etc. are used and permission has not been obtained, those components will be removed from the digital version.
- If an author chooses to be published on-campus only, copyright permission does not have to be obtained.
Physical copies of all components of Honors Projects will still be required and will be housed in the University Archives.
SUMMARY OF DEADLINES, WINTER, 2012
Winter Term, Week 6 |
Friday, February 10, 2012 (by 3:00 PM): Four copies of the final version of the Honors Project must be taken to Prof. Antoinette Powell in the Seeley G. Mudd Library. Prof. Powell will make a copy of the title page and return the copies to the student. |
Winter Term, Weeks 8 and 9 |
Monday, February 22 through Monday, March 5, 2012: Oral examinations are scheduled. |
Winter Term, Week 10 |
Wednesday, March 7, 2012: Advisers have returned the Committee Signature Page and also the Committee Report signed by all examiners and detailing the findings of the Honors Examination Committee to Prof. Powell. Representatives of the Honors Committee have returned evaluation reports on oral examinations to Prof. Powell. |
Winter Term, Final Exams Period |
Monday, March 12, 2012: Honors Committee meets to determine/approve levels of honors. As soon as this meeting has been held, the Honors Committee will inform advisers of its actions, give them permission to inform candidates of the Committee's recommendations, and permission to discuss with each candidate the strengths and weaknesses of his/her or her project, paper, and oral exam. |

Friday, March 30, 2012 (by 3:00 PM): If you wish to defend your Honors Project in the Spring, 2012 term, a signed paper copy of the Statement of Intent must be submitted to Prof. Antoinette Powell in the Seeley G. Mudd Library, room 115 (first floor.) |
Spring Term, Week 2 |
Tuesday, April 3, 2012 4:30 pm in the Seeley G. Mudd Library Rm. 401: Winter term Honors Roundtable, an informational meeting arranged by the Honors Committee and intended to provide information for students currently working on honors projects and juniors contemplating honors projects in their senior year. Anyone who is planning to defend an Honors project this year and cannot attend is encouraged to contact Professor Powell (powella@lawrence.edu). There will be a roundtable early in the Fall, 2012 term for people planning to defend their projects in the 2012-2013 academic year. |
