Women's Tennis

Women's tennis has enjoyed a history of success since reaching varsity status in 1974, winning seven league championships and two Midwest Conference titles. A member of the Midwest Conference since 1983, the Vikings had finished among the top four teams at the league tournament eight times by 1994, winning 13 singles championships and six doubles crowns in that span.

Vikings to play three matches this spring

The Lawrence women's tennis team will play three matches during its spring season. On April 19, Lawrence will play two matches at Lake Forest. Lawrence faces Benedictine at noon and then faces Lake Forest at 3:00 p.m. Lawrence also will play at St. Norbert on April 26 at noon.

Ritland wins Midwest Conference's Peterson Award

Lisa Ritland (pictured) has won the Midwest Conference's Ruth Peterson Award, which is given to the female multi-sport athlete who has the highest grade point average during her junior year. Ritland stars in tennis and track and field for the Vikings. More ...

Vikings dump Monmouth; fall to Grinnell in championship match

The Lawrence women's tennis team topped Monmouth 5-1 in the semifinals of the Midwest Conference Tournament Friday in Madison, Wis., but the Vikings lost 5-1 to Grinnell in the championship match. The second-place finish by Lawrence is the Vikings' highest finish since they placed second in 1988. More ...
